But the good news doesn't end there...Jacko is also playing in the new ECB Unicorn XI this season and has already notched up 51 from 25 balls against Worcestershire.

Please try to attend the Junior Registration Evening, where we will endeavour to explain the latest moves in Gloucestershire Junior cricket, and answer any questions you may have.

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Will Simmons and have been the 2nd X1 captain at Cheltenham Cricket Club for the last two years and a member and player for 18 years. My father is the chaiman Peter Simmons.
I am part of a huge attempt to set a world record in April 2009 by playing the highest game of team sport ever - appropriately this will be cricket!
Me and nearly 50 others will be trekking up Everest, Nepal to a plateau at 5,200 metres. There are two squads of 15 to allow for altitude sickness, 2 official umpires and 20 supporters dubbed 'trektators'. We'll take 9 days to get up and then, on 20th April, play a Twenty20 cricket game - and unless there is another higher plateau somewhere in the world undiscovered then this official Guinness World Record will never be beaten!
To train, raise awareness and gather sponsorship we'll all be taking part in gruelling events such as the 3 peaks challenge and a range of marathons and triathalons in an attempt to get fit. This becomes more necessary when you realise that we're lugging the pitch and all the kit up there ourselves!!
As well as me, there are other Cheltenham Cricket Club members coming too. Peter Spence, Kinsey Hern and Jonathan Hill all played for 2nd X1 last year and Junior Chairman Andy Waters' youngest brother Mark is involved too - making Cheltenham CC the most represented single club in this Everest Test!
If you'd like to know more about the attempt please look at www.theeveresttest.com. Follow my on line progress at www.simmoeverest.blogspot.com but most importantly please support and sponsor me in this massive effort if you can www.justgiving.com/simmoeverest. (Echo Report)
Two of our junior players have been selected to attend the Gloucestershire Academy. Lloyd Evans and Ben Ringrose have both achieved County Age Group selection in recent years and both were recognised at the Gloucestershire end-of-season awards evening for their contributions during the summer. Both were also recipients of special awards at our junior awards evening, and the club extends many congratulations for their continuing success.
Three members have recently successfully passed their UKCC1 Assistant Coach Course, swelling our coaching numbers even further! Martin Pegler, Steve Kelly and Alex Butler all attended the course in Cheltenham recently. Congratulations to all three!!
Gloucestershire County Cricket Club today announced that Steve Snell has signed a new contract with the Club.
Steve Snell commented: "I am very happy to commit my future to Gloucestershire for the next 3 years. I am very much looking forward to John Bracewell's input as Coach. I want to continue my development and push for further honours in the next few years."
Jack Russell said: "Steve has knuckled down this year and through his hard work he has performed to a high standard both with the gloves and the bat. He thoroughly deserves his contract extension. If he continues to work hard at his game the world is his oyster."

Anyone out there remember Steve Davies, our Australian visitor from way-back-when? Steve has recently contacted the club (thanks to this website!) to wish all his former colleagues well. He reports Courtney, his daughter is now 22, travelling the world, and still being reminded of the time she would sip from pint glasses at the age of 2! Steve is now coaching in Geraldton, north of Perth. Anyone wishing to contact Steve please email Steve Cashmore.

We are proud to be able to confirm that we have an agreed commitment to the Chance To Shine scheme. A number of local primary schools have already been visited with a view to providing their budding stars with coaching and playing opportunities.
We have been approached to enter a team in a new Under 17 League for 2008, details of which are still to emerge. Our successful Summersorts commitments will also be increased this summer. Our new venture into the Chance To Shine programme will also place demands on the Victoria Ground, so all in all we can look forward to a very busy season!
The Club's investment in a new electronic scoreboard has proved to be a successful addition to our facilities at the Victoria Ground. Not only can our scorers now enjoy the benefits of sitting where they please, but there is a waiting list of people wanting to take control and press a few buttons!
